Through confirmation, 7th and 8th graders are strengthened in their understanding of what the bible teaches. The youth spend 90 minutes each week during the school year studying the doctrines (teachings) of Holy Scripture as presented in Luther's Small Catechism. At the end of their 8th grade year, the students profess their faith in front of the congregation and then are confirmed the following week.
7th and 8th Grade Confirmation for 2018-2019 will be taught by Pastor Wiechmann. Both classes will meet together in one of the upper-grade classrooms.
Throughout the year, the students will be working their way through Luther's Small Catechism and preparing for the Public Examination which will take place at the end of their 8th grade year
The 2019 Public Examination will take place at the 8:15 am service on May 5th.
The 2019 Rite of Confirmation will take place at the 10:45 am service on May 12th.
See below for links to the lessons, the presentations, and the calendar for Confirmation events. If you have any questions, contact Pastor Wiechmann
The picture to the right shows Martin Luther preaching from the pulpit. He preaches not his own thoughts and opinions, but Holy Scripture. He is pointing the people to the cross. The Means of Grace are all here- Baptism, the Lord's Supper, and the inerrant Word. This is the faith we pass down and teach to the next generation. A faith rooted in the Word, focused on the Cross of Christ, and faithfully using the Sacraments to create, sustain, and strengthen faith and to offer and provide the forgiveness of sins. As our 7th and 8th graders learn from God's Word, it is this faith and the image of Christ Crucified for the forgiveness of sins that is imprinted upon their heart by the Holy Spirit.
